Medical Education in Egypt
From its beginnings in 1827, an important goal of medical education in Egypt has been to qualify physicians who can provide high-quality health care services for their local community and other communities in the Middle East region.
Currently, nationwide, there are 25 public universities, 51 public non-university higher education institutions, 20 private universities, and 86 other private higher education institutions. Two Egyptian universities also have branches in other Arab countries, and there is considerable number of Egyptian faculty members working for other universities in the region.
